Few days back me and my wife after getting some time for ourselves decided to try out some Chinese & Thai food. As we were not planning to go very far so we decided to try out Delicacy restaurant which we had tried few months back and liked its Thai food very much. I had also tried Nasi Goreng which tasted delicious. But over time as with many restaurants who loose their cooks shine I felt the same thing when we visited the place. The restaurant looked shabby and and only table occupied. The attendants were very courteous and helpful and the saving grace was the food that they served.
But at the outset we realized the the food did not taste as good it did few months back. First we ordered Tom Kha soup, as we were waiting they served fried wantons. Previously when ever we visited Delicacy the fried Wantons used to be crisp and delicious. This time though crunchy but were oily. Also the kimchi used to be on the table which I really liked to taste (or rather eat up) this time we has to ask for some and even the kimchi that cam seemed freshly prepared and missing the taste.
Coming back to Tom Kha (thick coconut) soup it was great and delicious but sometimes bitter but probably () one of the best Tom Kha but previously it used to be little light but it was very heavy this time. In fact it was so heavy that i had to complete my Wife's option and I was almost full for dinner, hence we asked for other items to be packed we we headed home.
During dinner we tried the other items that we had ordered in our home and had a mixed feeling. We ordered for chicken sate and chicken shumai (though generally made as pork dim sum) in starters then we had ordered egg fried rice, chicken with black bean sauce and Veg. Singapore noodles. Again it was a mixed bag where the sate was absolutely disastrous, I liked the fried rice, noodles and chicken in black bean sauce but the highlight was the chicken shumai which awesome and the just melted in my mouth and was flavor of chicken with the sweet/spicy sauce was fantastic. The only issue that I had was with the sate which were just cubes of rubbery boiled chicken marinated with some black sour flavored sauce, the quality of chicken and the sourness of sauce left a bad after taste in the mouth.
At the end I can only hope that they do get their shine back and again start serving some good food until then with my rating of 3/5 this place is fine for take away for their reasonable price but not a stand out restaurant.
